The Son’s Marriage

A. Best

Matthew 22:12 And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless.

Wedding garments are usually prepared when a couple is going to get married. Members of the bridal party are more often than not all outfitted in the same colour and style as selected by the bride and groom in waiting. If a member of the bridal party elects to wear his/her own apparel instead of the agreed upon wedding garment, it is likely that s/he will not be able to participate in the wedding procession.

We have been called to a wedding feast with Christ (the bridegroom) and given the garment that should be worn. This invitation, to attend the wedding feast dressed in the correct garment, is extended until the end of the feast. However, if you fail to come dressed in the apparel outlined by Christ, you will not be allowed entrance into the wedding feast. Moreover, you will be cast out of the heavenly kingdom with hands and feet bound, because no place will be found for the unrighteous in God’s Kingdom.

God calls us friends and offers us His garment of righteousness. If we reject His offer and choose to wear/do whatever we want, there will be no place for us in His kingdom. We are called to live soberly, righteously and in obedience to God’s will. He implores us to take on His character, enter into His joy, and learn of Him for He is lowly and meek.

Today, why not put on God’s armour, meditate upon His word and seek to hide it in your heart, so that transformation will take place as your mind is renewed in Christ daily?

Dear Jesus, thank you for offering your garment to ensure that I am always suitably clothed and prepared to attend Your feast. Please help me to wear it daily, so that I will always reflect Your light.
