What’s in Your Arsenal?

By: A. Bess

And the Lord said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it. — Job 1:7 KJV

What weapon is available to God’s children to fight the wiles of the devil, a foe who walks up and down the earth looking for any opportunity to inflict pain and sorrow upon the human race? He is constantly on the prowl, never letting his guard down, pouncing on vulnerable souls, and making every effort to lead them down a path of destruction. Jesus Christ is our only defence against this powerful enemy. As 2 Corinthians 10:4 tells us, “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds.”

We are again reminded in 1 Peter 5:8 that the adversary goeth about like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. To counteract the assault of the evil forces roaming the earth, the armour of God is available to all who will put it on (Ephesians 6:10-18). Knowing that evil constantly lurks at your door, do not trust that yesterday’s prayers and devotions will keep you covered – you must seek the Lord’s protection daily and continuously. Begin each day with the living God; put your life and that of your family in His hands.

In a vision, Zechariah was shown Joshua, the high priest, standing before the Angel of God with Satan at his right hand, ready to accuse him; but God was there prepared and ready to rebuke Satan. God will stand up for His people when they place their trust in Him. No matter how difficult times may get, you can depend on God’s protective shield and rest in the assurance that He will keep you safe.

Father, I need the guidance of the Holy Spirit to seek you diligently. Help me to place my complete trust in You.
